Program Overview
This program is designed to provide students with the entry level knowledge and skills to install and repair: heating, air conditioning and commercial/residential refrigeration equipment. The program covers in practice and theory the electrical requirements from power sources to circuits, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and installation of RHVAC.
PREPARE FOR A COOL CAREER
Refrigeration & Climate Control teaches student how to make things cold or make things hot. Heaters, fans, blowers, condensers, air conditioning, and air distribution systems are all part of the climate control portion of the program. Students troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment in the HVAC labs.
Sheet metal and ductwork add to the value of the program. There is an emphasis on electrical work and how it relates to climate control systems. Commercial refrigeration is also included and working on commercial freezers, walk in coolers, ice machines, pop machines, and refrigerants. Graduates can expect to work in the heating and cooling industry or could venture into the commercial food service industry where keeping food cold is a necessity.
Career Opportunities
Graduates will be able to assume entry level positions as air conditioning service and installation technicians, parts and counter persons, building maintenance, refrigeration technicians, furnace installers.
